SIPELEM Success Story

SIPELEM specialises in the development, ‘Made in France’ manufacturing, installation and on-site maintenance of industrial trolleys used primarily in the aviation, rail and logistics sectors. These trolleys are available in various designs: welded steel profiles, assembled aluminium profiles and assembled lean tubes. They are used as production line trolleys, order-picking trolleys or production and logistics trolleys.

To transport aircraft spare parts, an international company in the aviation industry approached our customer to develop suitable trolleys for transporting these sensitive and high-value parts. Among other things, the trolleys move on floor-mounted guide rails with a width of 55 mm. The castors must therefore be fitted with sufficiently wide treads. A further requirement was to transport the trolleys in aluminium containers for use at various production sites. Each container holds three trolleys, which must remain stable during transport as they are loaded with sensitive aviation parts. A final requirement was the use of non-marking (abrasion-resistant) treads.

In collaboration with BLICKLE, our customer developed a transport trolley equipped with four L-GEV 180K-TM13-SG swivel castors featuring a dead-man’s brake system. This system is based on a drum brake with an integrated spring and ensures that the trolley is automatically locked during transport inside the container. The trolley can only be moved if the operator operates a handle which, via a sophisticated system of cables and connecting rods, unlocks all four castors simultaneously. This release mechanism is accessible from both sides of the trolley and ensures ergonomic and safe handling. With regard to the floor-mounted guide rails, the castors are fitted with a widened tread of 75 mm, which prevents them from jamming when rolling over the rails.

SIPELEM is fully satisfied with the high-value-added mobility solution offered by BLICKLE. The trolleys are perfectly secured during transport in the containers. At the same time, they can be moved easily and safely across the floors of the major airline – even when traversing the guide rails.
